Subaru announced a number of debuts for the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, with the highlights being a prototype of the new Impreza fitted with STI Parts, a tuned Levorg STI Sport # set to be offered in limited production, and the Crosstrek Boost Gear concept. Starting with the sporty-looking Subaru Levorg which was the only one revealed in an actual photo, it is based on the production-spec Levorg STI Sport R EX, but features a number of modifications focused on improving its ride and handling. Subaru plans on offering the model in Japan as a limited production special, sitting at the top of the Levorg range.
The sixth generation of the Subaru Impreza
was unveiled at the LA Auto Show in November, but it is now the turn for the
JDM-spec right-hand-drive model to make its public debut at the Tokyo Auto
Salon. Besides the regular trims, Subaru will also bring a prototype of the
Impreza with STI parts that are currently under development. This one is
expected to closely preview the upcoming sportiest trim of the hatchback, at
least for the Japanese market.
The new Subaru Crosstrek, the adventurous
crossover sibling of the Impreza, will also be present in the form of the
“Boost Gear Concept”. The company suggests it is “studded with tricks that
arouse the adventurous spirit of an active life”. This sounds a lot like a
Crosstrek fitted with all the optionally available accessories that were
recently announced during its local market launch in Japan.
A similar treatment will be applied to the
Subaru Rex which will also gain its own “Boost Gear Concept” version. Mind you,
the urban SUV is a rebadged version of the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky
twins, exclusively available in Japan with a naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter
engine under the bonnet.
Finally, Subaru will showcase a trio of
racecars -the BRZ GT300 from the 2022 season alongside the WRX NBR Challenge
and WRX Rally Challenge for the upcoming 2023 season. We will learn more about
the aforementioned debuts at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon set to take place at the
Makuhari Messe in the Chiba Prefecture between January 13 and 15.
