The Model Y is the last Tesla to benefit from a tuning kit by Novitec, following similar upgrades for the Model 3, S, and X in previous years. Modifications include a new bodykit made of carbon fiber, a new set of 22-inch wheels and a lowered suspension. Novitec’s styling upgrades for the Tesla Model Y are quite discreet, but they do make a difference in making it look sportier and stealthier. More specifically there is a pronounced splitter at the front, extended side skirts, a rear diffuser, and an integrated rear spoiler. The tuner suggests that the extra parts benefit aerodynamics, reducing lift at high speed.
The bodykit is presented in a naked carbon
fiber finish with a high-gloss sealer finish which looks great in combination
with the black-painted bodywork. However, the tuner can also paint the add-ons
either matching the body color or in contrasting shades according to the
preferences of each customer. Novitec also offers interior updates with custom
leather or Alcantara upholstery in any desired color.
The highlight is the massive 22-inch
Novitec NV 2 forged wheels featuring five slanted twin-spokes developed in
collaboration with Vossen, which completely fill up the wheel arches of the
SUV. The asymmetrical design means that each wheel is unique, specifically
designed to help in brake cooling. The wheels are available in 72 different
colors, in a polished or brushed finish, and are shod in mixed performance
tires (255/30 ZR 22 at the front and 285/30 ZR 22 at the back).
The sporty stance is enhanced by the
optional height-adjustable KW coilover suspension, bringing the Model Y closer
to the ground by 40 mm and making it look even more like a Model
3. The tuner says that the lowered suspension not only improves the handling
credentials of the EV, but also reduces energy consumption thanks to lower
drag, resulting in a range increase of up to 7 percent. Novitec doesn’t offer
any performance upgrades which means that the electric motors and the battery
of the Tesla remain in stock condition.
