Zeekr, Geely’s premium EV brand, updated their 001 “Luxury Safari Coupe” for 2023, one year after its market launch in China. The big news is that the 2023 Zeekr 001 is available in a limited production variant offering an impressive range of 1,032 km between charges according to China’s CLTC cycle. Starting with the technical specifications, the Zeekr 001 retains the electric powertrain of its predecessor producing 268 hp with a single electric motor or 536 hp with dual electric motors. The most powerful can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The standard battery packs have the same
capacity of 86 kWh or 100 kWh offering CLTC ranges between 546-741 km. However, there is also the option of a new 140 kWh Kirin battery pack,
which is responsible for the record-breaking range figure of 1,032 km in the RWD variant, even though its availability is limited to only
1,000 units. The owners of those models can brag they have the longest-range
production model in the world.
Visually, the 4,970 mm long
Zeekr 001 remains unchanged which is logical considering that it was originally
introduced in April 2021. This means it still has the Lynk&Co-inspired face
with split headlights integrating matrix LED technology, and the unconventional
five-door bodystyle blurring the lines between shooting brakes and a
crossovers. For 2023, Zeekr added a trio of new exterior shades, including the
Yu Guang Orange, the Extreme Blue, and the Polar Night Black.
The interior is also carried over,
including the large 14.7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, the 8.8-inch
digital instrument cluster, and the 5.7-inch touchscreen for the rear
passengers. The front seats are heated and ventilated with a massaging
function, while the Nappa leather upholstery is available in black, blue, gray,
or brown shades. Electric doors are now standard equipment for all trims. Other
features include tri-zone climate control, dynamic ambient lighting, a premium
audio system by Yamaha, and the adaptive air suspension system.
The ADAS package has been upgraded with
new and more sophisticated features including an active lane change system.
Finally, the optional “Z Sport” package adds a set of lighter 22-inch forged
alloy wheels, larger-diameter perforated brake discs with six-piston calipers
by Brembo, 18-way electrically adjustable racing seats, and a heavy dose of
gray Alcantara upholstery covering most of the interior. The updated Zeekr 001
is already available to order in China with the first deliveries expected in
the second quarter of 2023. Pricing ranges between ¥ 300,000-386,000 which
translates to US$ 43,487-55,953 at current exchange rates. A European launch is
also scheduled for the near future.
