Spy photographers have snapped the 2024 BMW X5 on numerous occasions and now we’re getting our first official look at the facelifted crossover. Set to debut soon, the updated model was teased in a short video that shows the crossover will have an illuminated grille as well as a new front bumper. The clip also teases updated head- and taillights, although details are hard to make out.
While there isn’t much to see, previous
spy photos have shown the exterior updates will be accompanied by a revamped
interior that includes an all-new Curved Display. It’s expected to consist of a 12.3-inch
digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment system. Besides the new screens, we can expect a
streamlined dashboard, a revised center stack, and a minimalist shifter.
Under the hood, we can expect a handful of
changes as the M50i will be replaced by a new M60i. The model is slated to feature a more
efficient twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 523 hp and 749 Nm of torque. More
importantly, the X5 M60i will be equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system that
uses a small battery to power an electric motor that is integrated into an
eight-speed automatic transmission. This
should provide optimized power delivery and responsiveness as well as improved fuel
efficiency.
We’ll learn full details shortly, but the
X5 xDrive40i could also get a power boost to match the facelifted X7
xDrive40i. The latter features a new
3.0-liter inline-six with mild-hybrid technology as well as an output of 375 hp and 519 Nm of torque.
