The Dongfeng Warrior M20 hasn’t been properly introduced to us yet, but it is now official that the enormous SUV/truck will be receiving a motorhome variant suitable for four people. According to CarNewsChina, this implementation of the vehicle will have 3.7 meters between the axle, a custom body, a spacious living area inside and a boosted engine that will not only support the increased weight, but also make off-road driving viable.
Dubbed the Antarctic Off-Road RV, this
edition comes with a single cab design offering a single row of seats. The
living area includes a bed sized 2,025x1,350 millimeters that resides at the
ceiling above the cab. There is also a dining area with servomotors installed
into the sofas to let them easily unfold into another large bed.
The kitchen houses an electric stove and a
sink with hot running water. Air conditioning, a washing machine, a large TV
and many storage areas are also included in the standard spec. A shower cabin
and a WC can be found in a dedicated walled-off area, and there is a large
awning at the right side.
Powering the Antarctic Off-Road RV is the
same old 6.7-liter six-cylinder diesel V8 Dongfeng uses in its other large
trucks. However, minor modifications let it produce 320 PS and 1,200 Nm of torque – 6 hp and 150 Nm more than stock. The
transmission is six-speed automatic.
The vehicle can wade rivers up to 850 mm deep and surmount upright obstacles up to 400 mm high. The approach and departure angles are identical to the standard SUV at 33
and 36 degrees, respectively.
