SWM, an automaker and part of Brilliance Auto Group, has announced the pricing for its part-electric Tiger SUV. The car, which can travel up to 1,000 km once you top up the tank and the battery, will be available soon starting from 99,900 Yuan (US$ 14,724).
Dubbed the Big Tiger EDi, the vehicle is
4,605 mm long and has 2,780 mm between the axles. It is
therefore the same size as its petrol version. The design is different,
however, with a solid panel where the grille used to be and a larger 10.25-inch
head unit inside. The steering wheel is new, and there are more finishes to
choose from. The plentiful physical controls haven’t gone anywhere, to the joy
of everyone hating touchscreens.
The only electric motor available makes
142 PS and 210 Nm of torque. A compact LiFePo4
battery runs dry after 50 km of all-electric range. However, with
the gas engine set to generate additional power for the main motor, you can
drive as far as 1,000 km on a full tank. The engine has 1.5 liters
of displacement and makes 102 PS along with 126 Nm of torque.
Buyers will be able to choose from two and
three seat rows for the cabin. The three-row SUV will ship with two separate
seats in the middle row by default and a bench seat for three in the back.
Going for the top trim will cost you 123,900 Yuan (US$ 18,259).
