Acura has revealed that the 2024 ZDX all-electric crossover will get Google built-in technology for added convenience. The automaker announced today that the ZDX will come with Google Assistant and Google Maps from the factory. In addition, drivers can browse the Google Play Store for even more, auto-approved apps straight from the infotainment screen. Specifically, the ZDX will come with Google Maps for EVs, which allows owners to optimize their routes for charging. That will allow them to find charging stations along their selected route and receive advice on how long they will have to spend charging on their journey.
However, the app isn’t just passive, it
will also be able to control specific systems within the ZDX. This includes
preconditioning the battery if it notices that the driver is headed to a DC
fast charging station, to help reduce charging times. Drivers will also be able
to control certain vehicle functions with their voice via Google Assistant.
That will allow them to make a call, set a reminder, change the temperature
inside the vehicle, set their destination, and control various media functions.
In addition to Google’s suite of
technologies, Acura will also fit the ZDX with a standard digital instrument
display behind the steering wheel, a large center touchscreen with wireless
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more. Over-the-air updates will help keep
all of the ZDX’s technology up to date.
The new ZDX and ZDX Type S are being
co-developed with GM, utilizing the American automaker’s Ultium battery
technology. The new EV will be sold exclusively online, starting in 2024.
