It has been almost four years since Nissan showcased the eighth-generation Sentra for the North American market at the 2019 LA Auto Show, and now it’s time for a relatively modest refresh. The 2024 model year brings a few notable changes to the compact sedan, such as updated headlights, subtly redesigned front and rear fascias, and various minor updates. Nissan says that, with the styling revisions, they aimed to give the Sentra a cleaner look by incorporating a reshaped V-motion grille, chrome trim, and new headlights with a black bezel to lend the car a sportier look.

In addition, the SV grade of the Sentra offers new 16-inch alloy wheels, while the sporty SR grade receives updated 18-inch rims. Furthermore, the front grille is adorned with dark chrome trim, and a body-color trim positioned below the grille further enhances its distinctive appearance. It also gets new red SR badges at the front and back.

 

Inside, the same red helps add a pop of color, but it has been updated for 2024. Leaning closer to an orange than before, the new color helps align the Sentra SR with the Altima SR and the Frontier Pro-X and Pro-4x. All Sentra models get a flat-bottom steering wheels, round air vents inspired by the Nissan Z, and much more. Forward collision alerts are also standard, while intelligent driver alertness warnings, intelligent cruise control, and a tire pressure monitor are all available as extras. With the SV Premium trim, customers now get Intelligent Around View Monitor, an eight-speaker Bose Premium Audio System, and exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators for the 2024 model year. The car still gets an eight-inch infotainment screen, that is also available in the SV and SR grades.

Under the hood, the Sentra keeps its 2.0-liter inline-four. It continues to make 149 hp and 198 Nm of torque for the 2024 model year, but a new Xtronic CVT transmission has been added to the car. The transmission is claimed to have a smoother shift pattern and has been designed to be as fuel efficient as possible. In addition to a new standard stop/start, which shuts the engine off when it’s idling, the 2024 Sentra should be more fuel efficient than ever.

The EPA figures, along with additional information about each trim level and pricing, have not been released by the automaker yet. These details will be announced at a later date. Nissan has confirmed that the car will be available for purchase in the upcoming summer.
