The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq is inching closer to its big debut this fall and spy photographers have caught the model undergoing testing on the Nürburgring. The 2024 Kodiaq is heavily disguised but fairly evolutionary. As you can see, the model has a familiar front fascia with a larger grille featuring thick vertical bars. They’re joined by sweptback headlights and a more curvaceous bumper with pronounced air curtains. We can also see what appears to be a smaller central intake with a new mesh insert.
The changes don’t end there as the
crossover wears a new hood with a sunken middle section. Designers also gave
the Kodiaq streamlined bodywork, crisp fenders, and an angular shoulder line.
They’re joined by a familiar greenhouse and what appears to be a slightly
flatter roof.
There isn’t much to see out back, but
previous teasers have suggested the crossover will have taillights with a thin
line that flows into the liftgate. The rear spoiler also appears larger, while
the exhaust is hidden away. Skoda has already said the crossover will be
offered with “modern and efficient petrol and diesel engines.” They’ll be
joined by mild hybrid technology as well as the Kodiaq’s first plug-in hybrid
powertrain. That isn’t much to go on, but we can expect an assortment of
turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinders with improved performance and efficiency.
The Kodiaq will go into production next
year and likely ride on the MQB Evo platform. The model will continue to be
made in Kvasiny, but Skoda is aiming to increase production to 410 units per
day as Superb production is moving to Bratislava.
