Spy photographers have just captured a second prototype of Ferrari’s highly anticipated limited edition hypercar returning from testing to the Italian brand’s factory ahead of a rumored imminent debut. It’s hard to believe Ferrari introduced the SF90 Stradale nearly four years ago, but the calendar doesn’t lie and the automaker is putting the finishing touches on a high-performance variant.

Hours of Le Mans, the car lets its intentions be known as it sports a large
wing and a unique rear end with an aggressive diffuser. The updates continue at
the front as the coupe has a ‘split’ nose and a revamped central support. We
can also see what appears to be a more pronounced splitter. Little else is
known about the model at this point and even the name remains a mystery.
However, the latest rumors suggest it will be called the SF90 LM instead of the
SF90 VS (Versione Speziale).
Regardless of what it’s called, the model
will be more extreme than the standard SF90 Stradale. That’s pretty impressive
when you consider the regular car has a 769 hp turbocharged
4.0-liter V8 and a hybrid system, which boasts three electric motors including
one that is sandwiched between the engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch
gearbox. The motors are powered by a 7.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and produce a
combined output of 217 hp.
This gives the SF90 Stradale an overall output
of 986 hp, which enables it to rocket from 0-100
km/h in 2.5 seconds. The model also has a top speed of 340 km/h and
can travel up to 25 km on electricity alone. The SF90 LM will
undoubtedly improve on that, although production is expected to be extremely
limited.
