Skoda has been teasing the redesigned Kodiaq for months, but the crossover has been inadvertently revealed by its own infotainment system. While the zoomed in quality leaves a lot to be desired, we can see the crossover will have a larger grille that is flanked by split lighting units. Further below, there’s vertical air curtains and a sportier intake with triangular accents. Additional details are hard to make out, but the Kodiaq adopts streamlined bodywork and pronounced wheel arches. The photos also reveal an upward sweeping beltline and a relatively rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof. The crossover has also grown 61 mm and now measures 4,758 mm long.
Moving back inside, we can see a 10.25-inch
digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment system that resides on
top of the dashboard. Physical switchgear appears to have been largely
eliminated, while the shifter moves from the center console to the steering
column. The company has also confirmed there will be a new wireless smartphone
charger, which can handle two devices at once.
Skoda recently revealed performance
specifications and announced there will be a 1.5-liter TSI with mild-hybrid
technology. It produces 148 hp and customers seeking improved
performance can opt for a 2.0-liter TSI developing 201 hp. On the diesel side, there will be a
2.0-liter TDI with outputs of 148 hp and 190 hp.
The big news is the addition of a plug-in
hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 1.5-liter TSI engine, a 25.7 kWh battery
pack, and an electric motor. This setup gives the crossover a combined output
of 201 hp and an electric-only range in excess of 100 km.
