Automaker Jaecoo has published some details regarding the technology behind the all-wheel-drive system of its J7 SUV (otherwise known as the Chery Explore 06). The vehicle gets a proprietary AWD system called ARDIS for instant terrain response.
The system offers drivers seven modes to
switch between and switches from 2WD to 4WD about 50% faster than cars from
competing brands. Built-in power brakes let it imitate diff locks and respond
to road conditions in one-tenth of a second.
Jaecoo believes that servomotor-assisted
brakes perform better than traditional differential locks in many respects. For
example, they work well regardless of temperature and altitude fluctuations and
remain functional regardless of the acceleration.
As for the drive mode switch mentioned
above, it offers four standard and three special modes. In a mode called
Off-Road, the system automatically detects surface type and applies the
necessary preset.
