Dongfeng has introduced a new electric vehicle brand in China – eπ. Its first production model will be called 007 and will compete against the locally produced BYD Han and Changan Qiyuan A07 when it goes on sale in late 2023, Car News China communicates.
The sedan features butterfly front doors
and runs on Dongfeng Quantum Architecture. It is sized 4,880 x 1,895 x 1,460 mm
(L/W/H) and has 2,915 mm between the axles. With a drag ratio of just 0.209, it
comes close to the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air, the world’s leading EVs in
terms of aerodynamic performance. A Level 2+ self-driving system comprising 31
sensors is included in the base spec.
For the powertrain, there are three
options to choose from. Two of them offer a single motor at the rear axle,
which can output either 218 PS or 272 PS.
The top spec uses two 272-PS motors on each axle. A range-extender version is
also underway to the market, with Dongfeng estimating its range at 1,200 km.
For the EVs already announced, there is
only one battery option. The size is not stated anywhere, but it is a LiFePo4
battery pack that charges from 30 to 80 percent in 26 minutes given a
sufficiently powerful DC source. The average power expenditure amounts to 11.9
kWh per 100 km.
