BYD has unveiled the Song L electric SUV in China. The Song L concept EV was first showcased during the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023. Furthermore, pre-orders were opened on October 13, and over 11,000 hand-raisers were received within 17 days. The pre-orders have almost reached 30,000 as of the time of writing.
The Song L is a very sleek SUV and
features BYD’s hunting dragon face and hunting design. It has a low-lying
profile which highlights the sporty design of the SUV. It is available in five
color options namely orange, light blue, black, white, and gray. The interior
color options are morning light, white sand beach, and wilderness starry sky.
The interior has a 15.6-inch floating infotainment panel and a 10.5-inch
instrument display screen. The BYD Heart integrated sports seats and a 50-inch
heads-up display are also featured.
The BYD Song L SUV is available in five
trims with up to 662 km range while the lowest range is 550 km. There are several
incentives to early buyers of the BYD Song L SUV including an interest-free
two-year payment plan or a down payment as low as 15%. BYD is also offering
financial incentives on the charging and connectivity features of the EV. These
features include online navigation and free car data. The dimensions of the BYD
Song L SUV are 190 x 77 x 61 inches and it is a bit longer and wider than the
Tesla Model Y, but shorter.
The BYD Song L continues to draw more
pre-orders which is already close to the 30,000 threshold. BYD has now
officially begun the sales of the Song L SUV in China. The prices range from
189,800 yuan (US$ 26,700) to 249,800 yuan (US$ 35,100). The opening prices of the

demand. The model is also significantly less expensive than the Tesla Model Y
starting at around $37,400.
