Ford’s new Bronze Appearance Package for the Mach-E GT should really turn some heads, but you might have to work those neck muscles to keep the EV in sight. The company says buyers choosing the package also unlock the chance to buy a still-secret performance upgrade that makes it the fastest Mach-E ever. A GT with the Bronze kit starts at US$ 60,990, with the measly US$ 995 premium over a stock GT getting you “Sinister Bronze” paint for the 20-inch cross-spoke alloys, badges, and mesh-look front grille, and owners can choose from three body colors: Shadow Black, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat and the new Eruption Green seen in these images.
Frustratingly, Ford doesn’t go into
details about what the optional performance upgrade entails, how much power it
makes, or by how much acceleration is improved, only saying that ticking the
box on the order form delivers the quickest zero to 97 km/h time of
any production Mustang Mach-E, and that details on the upgrade will be shared
at a later date.
The GT is no slouch in stock form,
offering 480 hp and either 813 Nm or 860 Nmof torque depending on whether you go for the regular GT or the GT Performance.
The latter is allegedly capable of hitting 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and even the
less torquey version does the job in 3.8 seconds.
Not a fan of bronze? Then you won’t get
access to the secret performance package it seems, but if you do buy a stock GT
without the sun-kissed detailing, you’ll still benefit from some tasty
upgrades. MagneRide adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes with red calipers, and Ford
Performance front seats with 10-way power adjustment on the driver’s side are
now standard even on the base GT.
