Chevrolet announced the forthcoming debut of a new model in Brazil, which sounds more like a facelift rather than a new generation. We’re talking about the 2025 Chevrolet Spin that benefits from a redesigned face, an enhanced crossover stance, modern technology, and a new chassis setup, set to keep it relevant in the three-row minivan segment. The Chevrolet Spin – the Brazilian-developed minivan version of the now-discontinued Cobalt – has been around since 2012 with a facelift in 2018. The 2025 model is said to represent “the biggest evolutionary leap” yet, although judging from the nearly identical profile and greenhouse, it won’t be a clean-sheet design.
The company published two photos of the
Spin, focusing on the restyled front end and the overhauled interior. Starting
with the exterior, the front bumper is covered by complex – and mostly
decorative – intakes, while the new full-LED headlights are visually connected
with the upper portion of the grille. Finally, the taller hood accentuates the
crossover stance in combination with the addition of plastic cladding all
around the bodywork and the slightly increased ground clearance.
The interior has been injected with modern
technology, including a digital instrument cluster that is visually connected
with a new and higher-mounted 11-inch touchscreen. The latter will integrate
the Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system, while offering OnStar, a Wi-Fi hotspot,
and being compatible with over-the-air updates. The company said that the Spin
will offer the “most comprehensive set of safety equipment” in the segment,
without going into specifics. As with its predecessor, the new Spin will be
available in five-seater and seven-seater configurations. Upgrades are more
than skin-deep, as Chevrolet engineers tweaked the suspension, giving it a
slight lift. They also changed the calibration of the powertrain and the
steering, in a quest to improve refinement and efficiency. Specifications will
be announced at a later date, but local media suggest that the existing
1.8-liter four-cylinder flex-fuel powertrain will likely be carried over.
The 2025 Chevrolet Spin will make its
official debut at the Big Brother show by the end of March. The updated
crossover minivan will be one of the “six major launches” planned by Chevrolet
Brazil for 2024. Besides the Brazilian market, the Spin is also available in
Argentina, the Philippines, and Thailand.
