Chinese automaker Electric House (also known as EV House) has started the sales of its subcompact battery hatchback, the Yue 01, on the domestic market. Customers can select from six trim levels and two battery sizes. Prices range from 59,800 to 79,800 Yuan, which roughly corresponds to US$ 8,400–11,200, according to Car News China.
Electric House was known as Xinte
Automobile before the outbreak of the Covid pandemic. The economic disruption
at the time forced the company to shut down, but the year 2021 saw it come back
under a new name. In the same year, it produced its first mass-market EV – the
compact-sized Young Guangxiaoxin. As for the new Yue 01, it has five doors and
four seats inside. It sized 3,750 x 1,655 x 1,550 mm with 2,415 mm between the
axles and rides on 15-inch alloy wheels. Both the exterior and the cabin are
finished in two different colors.
A peek inside reveals a two-spoke steering
wheel, a seven-inch digital dashboard and a 10.1-inch vertical infotainment
screen. Physical buttons are kept to a minimum, The center console houses a
wireless phone charger and a couple of cup holders. Higher trims introduce
owners to such niceties as adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, self-parking
and over-the-air updates. Paying extra even gets you an eco-leather makeover
for the interior (the default option is cloth).
For the motor, you get a single low-end
unit on the front axle rated at 47.6 metric horsepower and 125
Nm of torque. The speed stays capped at 100 km/h. The
battery pack is produced by Guoxuan Hi-Tech from LiFePo4 cells. You can choose
between two sizes 22 and 32.56 kilowatt-hours. The former delivers up to 251 km of CLTC-rated driving range, and the latter yields 335 km. 30 minutes of fast charging fills the battery from 30 to 80 percent.
