Those looking to pick up a new Rivian R1T or R1S now have two additional battery options to choose from, named the ‘Standard’ and ‘Standard+’ packs. Rivian has listed its Standard battery pack on its online configurator tool for quite some time but it has not been available until now. It is currently offered to customers who opt for the Dual Motor AWD powertrain and in the case of the R1T, provides the pickup with 435 km of range. The range for the R1S equipped with this battery pack is also 435 km.
Then we have the Standard+ battery pack.
This pack can be coupled to both the Dual Motor and Dual Motor Performance
powertrains and, in the case of both the R1T and R1S, lifts the range to 507 km. Interestingly, Rivian has not provided any information about
the construction of these battery packs nor what minerals they use. What we do
know is that the Standard battery is a 106 kWh unit while the Standard+ has 121
kWh.
An entry-level R1T Dual with the Standard
battery starts at US$ 69,900 while the R1T Dual Standard+ is available from US$
73,000, and the R1T Performance Dual Standard+ has been priced from US$ 78,000.
Prices for the R1S Dual Standard start at US$ 74,900, the R1S Dual Standard+ is
available from US$ 78,000, and the R1S Performance Dual Standard+ starts at US$
83,000. With many of these models falling below the US$ 80,000 cutoff for the
federal EV tax credit, they are available for an incentive of US$ 3,750. The
addition of these two new packs means customers now have four battery packs to
choose from. Sitting above the Standard and Standard+ packs are the Large and
Max batteries providing 566 km and 660 km of range
respectively.
