Car company Li Auto will soon add a new all-electric SUV called the M6 to its lineup, which will compete with the Aito M5, Xpeng G6 and Tesla Model Y in China. The shipments will start in March 2025, and the company hopes to sell as many as 200,000 units in the first year, CnEVPost reports.
Right now, Li Auto only has one
battery-electric vehicle in its portfolio. It is a minivan called the Mega, which only went on sale several days ago. Apart from it, the company is
making a range of plug-in hybrid SUVs, specifically the L7, L8 and L9. All
three use their turbo engines solely to generate more power, while the electric
motors handle the propulsion.
Speaking at a conference call in February
dedicated to the financial performance in Q4 2023, Li Auto executives said
there would be four new launches in 2024. The hybrid Li L6 is set to debut in Q2 priced from 200,000 to 300,000 Yuan (US$ 28,000–42,000). In the second half of the year, the company plans to introduce
three completely electric crossovers.
The new M6 could very well end up being an
all-electric conversion of the Li L6 seen here. If so, then the other three EVs
planned for this year could turn out being L7, L8 and L9 conversions. This
remains to be confirmed, though.
