Aston Martin’s effort to rejuvenate their lineup continues as spy photographers have caught the redesigned DBS. It will follow hot on the heels of the DB12 and Vantage. Like the aforementioned models, evolution is the name of the game as the high-performance coupe isn’t entirely all-new. That being said, the model adopts a more traditional front end that eschews a mesh grille for one that features a mix of horizontal and vertical bars. Designers also gave the model new headlights and a more conventional ventilated hood. They’re joined by a wider front splitter as well as what appears to be smaller air intakes.
The car is a spitting image of its
predecessor in profile as the roof, greenhouse, and doors appear to carryover
untouched. However, we can expect updated front fenders with what appears to be
larger vents. There are extensive changes out back as the model has C-shaped
taillights that echo those found on the DB12. We can also see a more aggressive
bumper which ties in nicely with the sportier diffuser. They’re joined by a
four-tailpipe exhaust system, which has tips housed in hexagonal recesses.
Spy photographers haven’t gotten a good
look inside yet, but the model should echo its siblings and sport an improved
interior. Highlights will likely include a freestanding digital instrument
cluster and a new 10.25-inch infotainment system. We can also expect a modern
flat-bottom steering wheel, a minimalist shifter, and a ramp-like center
console.
While the DB12 traded its twin-turbo 5.2-liter
V12 engine for a Mercedes-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, the DBS might buck
that trend. Previous reports have suggested the V12 will remain, and if true,
we can likely expect an output of around 759 hp and 900 Nm of torque. However, some rumors have suggested the model may exceed
the 800 hp mark.
