Mazda introduced the 2025 CX-50 earlier this month and now the company is following up with the CX-5. While the changes aren’t too dramatic, Mazda focused on value and lowered the price of entry. Speaking of which, the entry-level CX-5 2.5 S returns to the lineup and this enabled Mazda to lower pricing to US$ 28,570. That’s US$ 730 less than last year’s model, which began at US$ 29,300 in 2.5 S Select guise. Despite wearing an affordable price tag, the CX-5 2.5 S comes nicely equipped with LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find cloth seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Rounding out the highlights are a push-button ignition, a four-speaker audio system, and Mazda Connected Services.
The crossover comes with a host of driver assistance systems including Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Seat Alert, and Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection. The model also has Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keep Assist. Power is provided by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine developing 187 hp and 252 Nm of torque. It’s connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the crossover to return 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined.
Additional changes are limited, but the CX-5 2.5 S Carbon Edition gains a wireless smartphone charger as well as wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Likewise, the CX-5 2.5 S Premium Plus now comes equipped with front and rear parking sensors as well as a 360 degree view monitor. Furthermore, the CX-5 2.5 S Premium has been dropped while pricing for the CX-5 2.5 S Premium Plus has been slashed from US$ 36,500 to US$ 35,200. However, it’s important to note the old CX-5 2.5 S Premium began at just US$ 33,900. Other models see price increases of US$ 600 or US$ 650, while the cost of the Turbo variants is unchanged.
With all that being said, the 2025 Mazda CX-5 will arrive at dealerships later this summer.
