As the days go by, we get closer and closer to seeing how the new Dodge Charger Daytona looks and sells in the real world. A keen-eyed motorist is helping us all get to that first milestone a bit quicker. They spotted what appears to be a production-ready example driving around and it’s one of the controversial all-electric versions. This is far from the first time that we’ve seen the Daytona EV but it might be the most production-ready version spotted in the wild. It features bright alloy wheels and what appears to be a Scat Pack badge on the front fender. Indications are that this is a Stage 2 version of that trim level.
This is a pure EV so there’s no
gas-powered anything in this car. Second, according to the ordering guide that
we covered here, it’ll come with 670 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque. That power will be directed to all four wheels and enable a 0-60 mph
time of just 3.3 seconds. According to Dodge, it’ll run the quarter-mile in
just 11.5 seconds and it should be far easier to hit that mark than it is to do
under 9 seconds in a Demon 170.
The powertrain options are a serious
source of debate but what appears clear is that the styling isn’t as divisive.
The muscle car silhouette appears basically unchanged from the concepts. A
large third brake light just beneath the roof is perhaps a bit more prominent
than in the past. Beyond that, we think it looks pretty good.
Rumor suggests that the nose could end up
with some active aero and that Dodge might even introduce a more affordable
300-hp rear-wheel-drive ICE version at some point. If that ends up
being the case, it could seriously boost sales and become a new entry-level
sports car for enthusiasts.
