A camouflaged prototype of the 2026 Honda Passport was caught by our spy photographers during testing on public roads, ahead of its debut in early 2025. The new generation of the SUV has a boxier silhouette compared to its predecessor, with a flatter roofline and a more upright tail. The heavy camouflage hides the details, but we can see hints of sharper headlights and larger taillights. As part of the official teaser, Honda revealed that the amber-colored DRLs will be a Trailsport-specific styling feature, something that is evident in the prototype. The adventure-ready trim will also feature a Trailsport emblem on the grille and extra off-road goodies. The rugged-looking alloy wheels of the prototype, shod in General Grabber A/T Sport tires (275/60R18), sound like a fitting choice for the production model.
Similarly, the dual tailpipes appear to
have been designed for an improved departure angle, while the roof rails are
more prominent than before. Interior shots reveal a free-standing infotainment
display mounted high on the center console, similar to that of the Honda Pilot.
According to Honda, the new Passport will be “the most adventure-ready and
capable Honda SUV yet”, combining “off-road capability, versatility, and innovative
features”. While the automaker remains coy on details, the 2026 Honda Passport
is expected to share its underpinnings with the larger Pilot that entered its
fourth generation in 2023.
Under the hood, there is a good chance
that the SUV will retain the 3.5-liter V6 powertrain. In the outgoing Passport,
which has been around since 2019, it generates 280 hp and 355 Nm of torque. We expect to learn more about the 2026 Honda Passport
as we move closer to its official debut next year. Honda might want to continue
its teaser campaign in the coming months, revealing more of the rugged styling
of the reborn SUV.
