Avatr has unveiled a special edition of its gran coupe flagship in Shanghai. The Avatr 012, designed in collaboration with fashion designer Kim Jones, features a host of unique styling elements and comes with a complimentary Dior handbag. Jones, known for his work at Dior Men’s Collection and Fendi Womenswear/Haute Couture, teamed up with Avatr’s design team, led by former BMW designer Nader Faghihzadeh.
The Avatr 012 is based on the Avart 12,
with the Changan-owned brand adding an extra zero to the name to signify
special editions. The exterior of the 5,020 mm long gran coupe
is painted in an exclusive Liquid Silver shade, featuring a shiny metal finish.
This is complemented by a new set of 21-inch forged alloy wheels, bearing the
signatures of Avatr and Kim Jones. As with the standard version, the model has
a hood-mounted display and mirror-replacing cameras, which compensate for the
lack of a rear windshield. The interior is bathed in suede upholstery, combined
with white vegetable-tanned Nappa leather for the seats. The Avatr and Kim
Jones logos adorn the integrated headrests, while owners can personalize the
steering wheel and B-pillars with their own emblems.
The special edition is packed with tech.
Inside, you’ll find a massive 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a 35.4-inch
display that stretches across the base of the windshield. Powering the tech is
Huawei’s Harmony OS 4. Rear passengers are treated to a 16-inch folding display
and a starry-night roof pattern that would make Rolls-Royce jealous. To top it
off, Avatr has added wireless charging pads, a 27-speaker audio system, and
Huawei’s advanced ADS 2.0 intelligent driving system. Owners of the special
edition will also receive a medium-sized Dior Book Tote handbag, although its
color and pattern will be randomly chosen instead of matching the interior
configuration.
The EV is powered by Huawei DriveOne dual
electric motors, producing a combined 539 hp. Energy is
stored in a CATL 5C Qilin battery, with ultra-fast charging capabilities taking
it from 30-80 percent in 10 minutes. The Avart 012 by Kim Jones is priced at
¥ 700,000 (US$ 98,000), with a limited
production of 700 units. For comparison, the standard Avatr 12 starts from as
low as ¥ 265,800 (US$ 37,200), although this is for the entry-level single-motor
setup. The Changan-owned brand will soon expand its lineup with EREV versions
of its models, next to the existing BEVs.
