The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has always been extremely popular to modify and upgrade but oftentimes, tuners take things a little too far in the pursuit of striking looks and ridiculous performance. Carlex Design has taken a slightly different approach with its new creation, dubbed the G-Vintage, and it’s now available to order. So, what exactly is the G-Vintage? Well, as the name suggests, it is a G-Class outfitted with some classic, or vintage, design elements, in combination with all the modern tech of the current model.
The modified SUV will be built to order
and will feature a chrome front bumper, front grille and badge, chrome side
steps, and a chrome rear bumper. The Mercedes also rocks 20-inch wheels
designed to mimic the classic Mercedes hubcaps and complemented by white-wall
tires. There are plenty of other chrome elements too, including the wing
mirrors, window surrounds, and the spare wheel carrier. Customers will have
nine colors to choose from, including Lime Pop, Champagne Fizz, Pink Glow,
Tangerine, Raspberry Punch, Green Breeze, Ivory, Sand Dune, and Noir, all of
which also rock white accents.
Being a leading interior specialist,
Carlex has also overhauled the G-Wagen’s cabin. Almost every single panel is
now wrapped in a combination of vintage leather and Alcantara, available in
three colors. The style of this vintage leather adds to the 4×4’s retro feel
and suits it to a tee. The tuner has worked its magic on the G-Class’s rear
cargo area too, adorning the floor with wooden panels, a feature replicated on
the back of the rear seats. As each G-Vintage from Carlex will be built to
order, shoppers will be given plenty of opportunity to spec out their vehicle
and ensure it stands out.
No tuned G-Class would be complete without
some engine upgrades so Carlex has upgraded the G63’s twin-turbo V8, allowing
it to pump out 805 hp and 1,020 Nm of torque. There’s no word on
how much the special G costs, but if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
