2016 MITSUBISHI PAJERO SPORT TEASED
~ paultan.org
A
teaser for the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been released, previewing the
next-generation SUV ahead of its planned debut this August 1. The darkened
picture doesn’t really show all that much, but in this case it didn’t really
need to, as revealing patent drawings of the same vehicle had already been
leaked earlier.
The
teaser now confirms that the drawings are indeed legit. Unlike before, the new
Pajero Sport will come with a unique front end design that’s not lifted from
the Triton, on which it’s based. There’s a big lower intake framed by a border
that also links the headlamps to the fog lamps. This is MMC’s new signature
look as seen on the latest 2016 Outlander and also concept cars like the
XR-PHEV.
No
big surprise on the side profile, which has an upswept lower line of the greenhouse.
The SUV’s rear contains wraparound tail lamp clusters with a “tail” that goes
right down to the bottom edge of the tailgate, like a giant version of what
Daihatsu did for the new Copen. A pretty good attempt at a bolder design to
avoid the SUV from being tagged as a Triton with a canopy.
Our
latest Mitsubishi Triton VGT is powered by a 2.5 litre variable geometry turbo
engine with 178 PS and 400 Nm at 2,000 rpm, an improved version of the current
178 PS/350 Nm DI-D motor. The new 182 PS/430 Nm 2.4 litre engine that was
launched with the Triton late last year in Thailand wasn’t brought it due to
our lower quality diesel.
