SSANGYONG TIVOLI
SsangYong might finally have its competitors worried, as it
announces the new Tivoli SUV will be priced from less than £13,000 in the UK.
It’s bound to set the cat among the pigeons, as most crossover rivals cost
thousands of pounds more.
The contemporary SsangYong Tivoli B-segment SUV arrives in the
UK in the summer of 2015 with prices starting from just £12,950.
"This is a car that will really put SsangYong on the map
and change brand perceptions," says Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor
UK. "By any criteria but especially style, interior finish and value for
money, Tivoli stands close scrutiny. The verdict from those who have already
seen and driven the car is that we're on to a winner. But ultimately it's the
customer who wins: this is a modern, safe, well-built and comprehensively
equipped car, and with a price and warranty no one else can match. Anyone
considering a small SUV will have to put it on their list."
With a 1.6-litre engine, six-speed manual transmission and 16in
alloy wheels as standard, the Tivoli is priced to steal sales from the likes of
the best-selling Nissan Juke (from £14k) and Skoda Yeti (from £16k).
The reputation for cheap and rugged off-roaders that’s come to
define SsangYong in the UK is upheld by 4x4 versions of the Tivoli but many
customers will settle for the greater fuel economy of the front-wheel drive
examples. A further choice between a six-speed manual gearbox and the Aisin
dual CVT six-speed automatic found in the MINI gives the Tivoli one of the most
varied ranges in the compact crossover class.
If anything, the Tivoli interior is even more of a revelation to
anyone familiar with SsangYong products of old. The design can stand its ground
next to the mainstream players with a smart 7-inch central screen on higher
spec cars and an adjustable instrument cluster that illuminates in six
different colours.

attached, and for simplicity the range comprises three main model options - SE,
EX and ELX, while for those who want further individualisation, the My Tivoli
programme offers a wide number of further choices.
