IIMS and GIIAS CARS
There’s
plenty of car unveiled in exhibition named IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show)
and GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2015 held in Jakarta at
August 20-30th, 2015. So what cars?
2016
Toyota Hilux
The
latest 2016 Toyota Hilux had launched in Indonesia, with prices ranging from IDR
377,7 million for the entry-level 2.5 E 4X4 M/T Double Cab to IDR 435,1 million
for the top-spec 2.5 V 4×4 A/T double cab.
On
the top-end variant, the new Toyota Hilux comes equipped with a wide range of
safety features that include 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, VSC, Downhill assist
control and Hill Assist control. Other creature comforts include keyless entry,
automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a 6.1-inch infotainment system,
leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel, and leather upholstery.
Powering
the Indonesian-spec Toyota Hilux is a 2.5-liter D-4D diesel engine which is
available in two power stated: 102 PS/200 Nm and 144 PS/343 Nm. Transmission
options include a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual, while a 4×4 drivetrain
is standard across the range.
Toyota
Corolla Altis TRD Sportivo
The
company also brought a Toyota Corolla Altis fitted with an aero-focused TRD
Sportivo bodykit to the show. It features extended bumper skirts, twin-spoke
alloy wheels, side skirts and LED daytime running lights.
Powering
the Toyota Corolla Altis TRD Sportivo is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with
Dual VVT-i, which produces 151 hp and 190.2 Nm of torque. It is paired to a CVT
unit with 7 speed Sequential Sport and Paddle Shift Shiftmatic.
Tata
Xenon XT 2.2
The
variant showcased at the auto show is the top-end Tata Xenon XT 4×4 Double Cab.
Inside, it comes with power-operated windows, dual airbags, and garnish on the
steering wheel, center console, instrument dials, HVAC vents, and gear lever.
Powering
the Tata Xenon XT is the familiar 2.2-liter VTT DICOR engine which produces 147
hp and 320 Nm of torque, which is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 4×2
drivetrain is offered as standard, while higher variants come with a 4×4
system.
Tata
Super Ace (closed cabin)
Also
unveiled at the 2015 GIIAS is a closed cabin version of the Tata Super Ace van,
dubbed as the Tata Super Del-V.
Other
than windows and access door, this variant is completely covered up.
Distinctive features include wheel covers and chrome garnish at the back. It
measures 4340 mm long, 1565 mm wide, 1858 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2380
mm.
Power
is sourced from a 1.4-liter 475 IDI TCIC diesel engine, which produces 70 hp at
4,500 rpm and 135 Nm at 2,500 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox,
and is capable of hitting a top speed of 125 km/h.
BMW
2 Series Gran Tourer
The
BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is basically an extended version of the BMW 2 Series
Active Tourer. It’s based on the same UKL FWD platform that underpins the 2
Series Active Tourer, but gets an additional row of seats in the 2+3+2 format.
It
measures 4,556 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,608 mm in height. Inside,
the Gran Tourer comes with 645 litres of boot space, which can be increased to
805 litres by folding the rear bench, and to 1,905 litres by folding the second
row seats.
The
BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is available in a single variant – 218i Gran Tourer
Luxury – which is powered by a 1.5-liter 3 cylinder petrol engine producing 136
hp and 220 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed
Steptronic transmission. It is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5
seconds with a top speed of 203 km/h.
The
BMW 218i Gran Tourer Luxury is priced at IDR 749 million (off-the-road).
Mini
John Cooper Works
The
Mini JCW is a performance-oriented variant of the regular 3-door Mini Cooper.
Compared
to the standard Mini Cooper, the Mini JCW features a new front bumper with
large air inlets, a special JCW spoiler and 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels. It
also gets an uprated suspension system for better handling, tuned exhaust system,
and exclusive Brembo brakes.
Based
on BMW’s UKL platform, it is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin turbo
engine which develops 231 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is
paired to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Apparently, this is the most
powerful engine ever fitted in a series production Mini product.
It
is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds with the manual
gearbox and 6.1 seconds with the automatic. The car is priced at IDR 829
million.
2016
Lexus ES300h
Lexus
Indonesia unveiled the facelifted 2016 Lexus ES300h at the 2015 Gaikindo
Indonesia International Motor Show (2015 GIIAS). It is priced at IDR 1,35
billion (off-the-road).
Changes
attributed to the facelift include an aggressive Lexus Spindle grille, sharper
headlamps with “L-shaped” LED DRLs, and new 17-inch alloy rims. At the back, it
gets new “L-shaped” LED clusters in the taillamps, and a subtle spoiler.
As
for the interior, the 2016 Lexus ES300h comes with an updated Lexus Enform
infotainment display paired to a mouse controller, new Mark Levinson Premium
Sound system and Panoramic Roof options, Smart Key Entry with Smart Start
Ignition, new steering wheel design, and a larger 3.5″ TFT Multi Information
Display in the instrument cluster. New trim materials include Linear Dark Mocha
wood, Illustrious Piano Black wood and Bamboo with a matte finish.
Powering
the 2016 Lexus ES300h is a hybrid system combining a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle
engine with two high output electric motors, which produce a combined output of
202 bhp at 5,700 rpm and peak torque of 213 Nm at 4,500 rpm, and is paired to
an E-CVT unit. Fuel consumption and CO2 emission are rated at 18.2 km/L and 130
g/km, respectively.
2016
BMW 3 Series (facelift)
BMW
Group Indonesia has unveiled the facelifted 2016 BMW 3 Series at the 2015
Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2015). Compared to the
outgoing model, it features minor design and equipment updates.
Up
front, the 2016 3 Series LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) comes with a re-profiled
front bumper housing a pair of revised air intakes. The facelift adds Adaptive
LED headlights as optional equipment , while Bi-Xenon lights are standard. At
the back, it gets a sculpted bumper and new LED clusters for L-shaped
taillights.
Unlike
the exterior, changes are minimal inside the 2016 BMW 3 Series. It sports
chrome highlights for the center console, AC vents and controls, while the cup
holders in the floor console get a new sliding cover.
The
2016 BMW 3 Series will retain the current engine lineup, save for the new 340i
variant that replaces the 335i. It is powered by a twin-turbo inline-six
cylinder engine delivering 326 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Other engines include a
2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 252 PS and 350 Nm, and a
2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel motor producing 190 PS and max torque of 400 Nm.
The
car is priced starting at IDR 665 million in Indonesia.
Hyundai
Grand Avega Limited
The
Hyundai Grand Avega is basically an hatchback version of the Hyundai Verna sold
in India. The Grand Avega Limited edition features an exclusive grille with
chrome surrounds, LED DRLs accentuating the foglamps, exclusive 15 inch
multi-spoke alloy wheels and a “Limited” badge on the hatch. It is finished in
an exclusive “orange-vitamin C” exterior color.
Inside,
the Limited edition comes with a leather wrapped steering wheel, tan brown
leather upholstery, and a dual tone light grey/dark grey dashboard.
The
Grand Avega is powered by a 1.4-liter CVVT petrol engine that produces a
maximum 108 PS at 6,300 rpm and 136.3 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Transmission
options include a 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
The
Grand Avega Limited M/T is priced at IDR 212,5 million, while the automatic gearbox-equipped
model costs IDR 225,5 million.
Hyundai
Grand i10X
The
Hyundai Grand i10X is the company’s first ever sub-compact pseudo-crossover
which is manufactured at the plant of Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) in
Chennai. It is exclusively sold in Indonesia at IDR 155,5 million.
Compared
to the standard Hyundai Grand i10, the Grand i10X features extended black
plastic lower bumpers with integrated silver skid plates, foglamps with LED DRL
strips, side extensions, a chrome exhaust tip, black panel covering the
C-Pillar for a “floating roof” impression, and a roof spoiler. Thanks to the
larger tires, the Grand i10X has higher ground clearance, which adds to the
rugged appeal.
The
only exclusive change inside is the silver bezel ornament on the leather-wrapped
steering wheel. Otherwise it’s identical to the standard Grand i10, which comes
equipped with a console-mounted gear shift lever, 2-DIN MP3 player with 4
speakers, USB and AUX-in ports, driver-seat height adjustment, cooled glovebox
and 256 liters of boot space.
Powering
the Grand i10X is the same 1.2L Kappa dual VTVT petrol engine from the standard
model, generating 83 PS at 6,000 rpm and 116 Nm at 4,000 RPM. It is paired to a
5-speed manual transmission only.
Land
Rover Discovery Sport
PT
Grandauto Dinamika (GAD), the sole distributor of Jaguar Land Rover cars in
Indonesia, has launched the Land Rover Discovery Sport at the Gaikindo
Indonesia International Auto Show 2015 (GIIAS 2015)
At
the tape, the Land Rover Discovery Sport is 4,599 mm in length, 2,173 mm in
width, 1,724 mm in height and 2,741 mm in wheelbase.
For
the Indonesian market, the 2.0-liter 240 hp Si4 gasoline engine and a 9-speed
automatic transmission is confirmed, and the local variant is tuned to Euro II
specification and driving on local road conditions.
The
car is priced starting at IDR 1.299 – 1.479 million in Indonesia.
2016
Lexus RX Series
Lexus
Indonesia launched the fourth generation Lexus RX. The exterior of the new
Lexus RX adopts the company’s latest design philosophy. Up front, it gets the
characteristic Lexus Spindle grille flanked by sleek headlamps with LED DRLs
and an aggressive lower fascia. It features a floating roof design, LED
taillights and dual exhaust tips. It is larger than the previous generation
model, with a 50.8 mm increase in wheelbase.
The
RX comes with a familiar interior design, with highlights being a flowing
center console with silver trim, an analog clock between the central HVAC
vents, new 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel design, and dual tone leather
upholstery. It is equipped with a 12.3 inch Lexus Enform infotainment display
as standard, which is navigated via a mouse controller on the floor console.
Under
the hood, the 2016 Lexus RX packs a 300 hp 3.5 L V6 engine mated to an 8-speed
automatic transmission.
Renault
Lodgy
The
Indonesia-spec Renault Lodgy unveiled at the motor show is nearly identical to
the Renault Lodgy Stepway variant sold in India, save for few exclusive
features. Characteristic exterior features include a triple-slat grille with
chrome inserts, silver colored foglamp housing, vertically-positioned
taillamps, and a bold chrome garnish with the nameplate embossed at the back.
It also gets LED DRLs, roof spoiler, 16-inch multi-spoke alloy rims and
projector headlamps.
Inside,
the Renault Lodgy borrows design cues from the Renault Duster SUV, as seen in
the instrument cluster, center console, and gear lever. It features a new
steering wheel design, a 7-inch MEDIANAV infotainment display, cruise control,
power operated ORVMs, leather upholstery and foldable tray tables for occupants
in the second row. The Renault Lodgy is available as a 7 seater (with 2 captain
seats in the second row) or the conventional 8-seater arrangement.
The
Renault Lodgy packs a 1.5-liter DCi diesel engine sourced from the Renault
Duster, which is available in two power states: 85 PS and 110 PS. Power is sent
through a 5-speed manual gearbox (85 PS) or a 6-speed manual gearbox (110 PS)
to the front wheels.
2015
Audi TT
The
2015 Audi TT revealed last year is based on VW’s MQB platform and has shed 50
kg over the previous generation. The car is also longer than the outgoing
version with an increase in wheelbase by 37 mm.
In
the TT, The 2.0 TFSI generates 230 bhp
and 370 Nm of peak torque from 1,600 rpm to 4,300 rpm, and is the engine
offered for Indonesia.
Features
that come as standard on the new TT are turbine AC vents with integrated controls
for the temperature system, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, voice recognition,
and leather upholstery. The sports car also debuts the new Audi Virtual Cockpit
system that boasts of a 12.3-inch TFT screen powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3
graphics processor. In Indonesia, the car is priced at IDR 1.955 billion.
2016
Audi Q7
The
2016 Audi Q7 unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this year sits on the MLB Evo
platform and therefore is 325 kg lighter than its predecessor.
The
new Q7 is powered by 3.0-liter V6 TFSI produces 333 bhp and 440 Nm of torque.
All the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all
wheels through the Quattro system.
The
new Q7 gets features such as Audi’s Matrix LED lighting system, a new 7-inch
MMI system with touchpad, Virtual Cockpit with a 12.3-inch TFT display, a 3D
surround sound system from Bang & Olufsen, tablets for rear seat passengers
and Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The
new Q7 measures 5.05 meters in length, 1.97 meters in width and 1.74 meters in
height with a 2.99 meters wheelbase. The SUV is priced at IDR 1.425 billion.
Porsche
Cayman GT4
The
range-topping, track-focused variant of the Porsche Cayman series features an
aero-focused body kit that includes lower bumpers, large air intakes with mesh
grille inserts, a front splitter, and a 911 GT3-inspired air duct in the
bumper. Coming to the back, it comes with a fixed rear wing supplemented by a
larger rear spoiler, and a central dual exhaust tips.
The
mid-engined track eater is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine sourced from
the 911 Carrera S, which produces 385 hp. For Porsche purists, it is available
only with a six-speed manual transmission that sends torque to the rear wheels.
It is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, before hitting a
top speed of 295 km/h. The Porsche Cayman GT4 has also lapped the Nürburgring
Nordschleife in a commendable time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds.
Porsche
911 GT3 RS
Like
the Cayman GT4, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is also at home on a track, rather than
in a crowded city. The front and rear track of the GT3 RS is wider than the
less powerful 911 GT3, providing higher roll stability. Porsche claims that the
911 GT3 RS come with widest tires ever fitted in the entire Porsche 911 history
as standard.
The
interior is nearly identical to the 911 GT3, save for the carbon-fiber bucket
seats inspired by the Porsche 918 Spyder and an optional roll cage (as part of
the Club Sport Package).
The
Porsche 911 GT3 RS packs a 4.0-litre flat-six naturally aspirated engine that
develops 500 hp and 460 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a
7-speed PDK dual clutch automatic transmission. It is capable of sprinting from
0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 10.9 seconds, before hitting a top
speed of 310 km/h.
Mitsubishi
Triton
The
new Triton is available in five variants – Single Cabin HDX, HDX Double Cabin,
GLS, Exceed MT and Exceed AT. The
exterior is an evolution of the previous design but gets a new grille,
redesigned front bumper and new 16-inch alloy wheels. The dimensions of the top
Exceed variant is 5255 mm length, 1815 mm width and a height of 1795 mm. The
wheelbase for all variant remains the same at 3000 mm as does the ground
clearance at 220 mm.
All
variants of the Triton are powered by the same 2.5-liter, inline four-cylinder,
turbocharged DI-D engine that generates power outputs ranging from 110 bhp to
178 bhp with peak torque being 200 Nm on the base HDX, and 400 Nm on the Exceed
AT. The 5-speed manual is the transmission of choice for all trims except the
automatic, which gets a 5-speed auto gearbox. All-wheel drive and limited-slip
differential come standard across the range.
The
Exceed gets features such as an audio player with MP3, CD, Aux-in, USB, iPod
and Bluetooth connectivity, power windows, AC, electric side mirror and keyless
entry. Safety is taken care of by dual front dual airbags, side impact beam and
child proof lock.

Mazda
Biante Limited Editon
The
Limited Edition model comes with an exclusive aero body kit designed by
Japanese tuner DAMD, featuring low bumpers, side skirts, LED DRLs, and a roof
spoiler. The Biante rides on 16-inch High Bright alloy wheels, and is equipped
with rear parking sensors. The exterior is finished in an exclusive Jet Black
Mica paint job.
Changes
in the inside are minimal. It is equipped with a 7-inch Alpine infotainment
system, LED interior lighting, and perforated beige leather seats.
Despite
the aggressive body kit, no changes have been made under the hood. It is
powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter four cylinder engine capable of 151 hp and
190 Nm of torque. Power is sent through a SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-Speed automatic
gearbox with Active Adapative Shift to the front wheels.
The
2015 Mazda Biante Limited Edition is priced at IDR 457.5 million, and is
limited to only 50 units.
Mercedes
GLC
The
GLC is based on the C-Class’ rear-wheel drive MRA platform and will be offered
in right-hand drive as well, unlike its predecessor, the GLK. Mercedes has
stated that the new car will have more legroom, shoulder room, and 1,600 liters
of luggage space which is 50 liters more than the outgoing model. Despite the
dimensional increase, the car will be 19 per cent more fuel efficient.
The
variant announced for the Indonesian market is the Mercedes GLC 250 4MATIC
which comes with a 1991 cc four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 211 hp @
5500 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1200 – 4000 rpm. It is paired to the 9-speed 9G-TRONIC
AT, accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and further to a top speed of 222
km/h. Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system will be standard on all variants
and an optional AIRMATIC air suspension with an off-road pack will be extended.
Available
for bookings, the Mercedes GLC 250 Edition 45 is priced at IDR 1.099 billion
while the entry-level GLC 250 Exclusive is priced at IDR 999 million.
Mercedes
Maybach S-Class
The
Mercedes-Maybach S-Class was unveiled last year, simultaneously at the
Guangzhou Auto Show and the Los Angeles Auto Show. The car is 5453 mm long and
has a wheelbase of 3365 mm, which is 20 cm longer than the standard S-Class.
The Maybach range has two models – S600 and S500.
The
S500 gets its drive from a 4.7-liter V8 biturbo engine that provides an output
of 455 bhp / 700 Nm. The power is transferred to the road through the new
9G-tronic automatic gearbox. The luxury limo gives a combined NEDC fuel
efficiency of 11.23 km/l with a CO2 emission of just 207 g/km.
The
Maybach variant comes with loads of driver assistance systems such as PRE-SAFE
Brake with pedestrian detection, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and
Stop&Go Pilot, Brake Assist BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Lane
Keeping Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Night View Assist Plus, but
the place to be in the car is the rear, where two individual seats surrounded
with a plethora of comforts and equipment, are appointed.
In
Indonesia, the Maybach S-Class is priced at IDR 5.3 billion.
Mercedes
AMG GT S
The
Mercedes AMG GT S is the more powerful version of the AMG GT. The car is based
on the aluminium space frame that enables the sports car to weigh just 1,540
kg.
Under
the hood, the GT S gets a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 that produces 510 bhp and
650 Nm of torque. The rear-wheels are fed power through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT
7-speed DCT. This propels the car from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds
and on to a top speed of 310 km/h.
Several
safety features come with the GT S such as Collision Prevention Assist Plus,
Adaptive Brake, Attention Assist and the tyre pressure monitoring system.
In
Indonesia, the Mercedes AMG GT S costs IDR 4.6 billion.
2015
Chevrolet Trax
Identical
to the model sold in the U.S, the Chevrolet Trax features a familiar dual-port
grille and swept back headlamps. To suit its SUV credentials, the Trax sports
extra plastic body cladding and rides on a standard 16-inch alloy rims (18-inch
rims optional).
Inside,
the Chevrolet Trax gets a simple motorcycle-esque instrument cluster borrowed
from the Chevrolet Spin, metallic inserts and a a 7-inch touchscreen display
powered by Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system.
Under
the hood, the Chevrolet Trax is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged EcoTec
engine producing 138 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a
6-speed automatic transmission that sends torque to an optional all-wheel drive
system.
