YUAN
The
Yuan, named after the Mongolian Dynasty Yuan, is a PHEV produced by BYD Auto.
It is the “dual mode” (EV and HEV modes) version of the BYD S1, a mini SUV yet
to launch. With a 2520 mm wheelbase, the Yuan is 4320 mm long, 1765 mm wide,
and 1650 mm tall. It features two electric motors, on the front and rear axle
respectively. They work with a petrol 1.5 liter, which is mated to a DCT. In
all-electric mode, the hybrid SUV is said to have a driving range of 70 km. A
badge “4.9S” is displayed on its rear door, indicating the car’s 0-100 km/h
time.
The
Yuan was unveiled at the Shanghai motor show in April 2015, and will go on sale
in the last quarter of that year. Slotted below the Song, it will have a list
price of about 200,000 Yuan (before incentives).
