Hennessey
Venom GT2
Hennessey
Performance have just released a number of renderings which show the latest
iteration of the their Lotus Elise based supercar. The original Venom GT from
2010 showed just what was possible given a decent donor car, an
twin-turbocharged LS9 V8, and lots and lots of clever engineering. With the
Venom GT2 Hennessey have raised their own, already stratospheric, performance
bar, considerably, and also made a few alterations to the car’s exterior
design.
The
Hennessey Venom GT2 is powered by a 7.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 which
produces a mind-blowing 1,500 + horsepower. In addition a seven-speed
paddle-shift transmission appears in the options list. Hennessey are keeping
any additional details to themselves for the time being. Further information is
expected later next year.
As
well as the modifications to the drivetrain, Hennessey have also toyed with the
Venom GT2’s aerodynamics. The prominent double-bubble roof not only looks good,
but it also helps accommodate tall drivers. At the front there’s been some
changes to the bumper, and a new set of LED headlights make the car look far
less like the Lotus on which it’s based. Fancy dihedral-opening doors round out
the updates for the 2013 car.
The
price for the 2014 Venom GT2 is a cool US$ 1.25 million. The seven-speed
transmission adds an unbelievable US$ 165,000 to that number.
