Keating
TKR
The
Keating TKR is a product of Keating Supercars based in Manchester, England. The
TKR was first revealed in the spring of 2008, and the company claimed to have a
car which could take the Guinness World Record for the fastest production car.
At the time not many took them seriously. But now, after a busy year of
development and testing, the company has set an unofficial speed record of 260
mph. In September of 2010, when the conditions are right, Anthony Keating and
his team of 15 engineers and designers plan on taking the car to the Bonneville
Salt Flats in order to have the car officially tested by the guys at Guinness
to confirm the top speed.
However
not all Keating Supercars are created equal. The car comes in two variants, the
base model SKR and the top spec TKR. The SKR is powered by a 6.0 litre V8
which, depending on the state of tune develops between 400 and 500 horsepower.
The TKR's engine options range anywhere from 500 horsepower all the way up to
the 1,800 hp version. These extraordinary differences in power output come
courtesy of the induction methods. Lower powered versions are naturally
aspirated, mid range models are supercharged, and the top spec engines are twin
turbocharged.
The
Keating SKR features a steel and fiberglass construction technique. The higher
performance TKR model features a lighter construction method which uses a
combination of a carbon fiber chassis covered by carbon fiber bodywork.
All
Keating Supercars, whether its the SKR or the TKR are handbuilt specifically to
the customers requirements and tastes. Due to the fact the basic engine block
comes from GM, in lower states of tune the drivetrain service intervals are
much longer than in a comparable performance supercar.
