Milan
Abarth
There’s
no shortage of optimistic individuals and small companies who think that
they’ve got the ability to make their way in the world as manufacturers of
exclusive high performance supercars. The latest outfit to try and make it big
is an Austrian company with their car, the Milan Abarth. The car recently got
previewed at several different venues in Monaco, however despite its unveiling
there still isn’t much information on the vehicle.
What
we do know is that only fourteen examples of the car are scheduled for
construction. Seven road-legal cars, and seven higher performance SS Milan
Abarth models. Power will range from between 600 and 1,700 horsepower! And it
will weigh in at between 900-1100 kgs depending on specifications.
The
car is said to feature an engine designed by the family of Karl Abarth – the
Austrian designer who worked for Porsche and Fiat from 1950s-70s. Quite what
that engine is remains a mystery. Karl Abarth’s son and project consultant for
the brand, Raphael Abarth said: “This private, unofficial launch event could
only take place in Monaco – the place to show any special car. Monaco is the
city of the supercar in every way.”
The
official world premiere of the Milan Abarth is penciled in for February 2013.
Prices start at 300,000 EUR (US$ 390,000 / £ 243,250). That’s a hell of a lot of
money for an Ultima GTR with a big engine and a weird nose.
