P550 Tribute
The
Porsche 550 is one of the most gorgeous cars to come from a manufacturer
renowned for making stunning vehicles. However their rarity and price now mean
they’re the preserve of only the very wealthiest car collectors. But now a
French company has come up with the next best thing. A modern-engineered sports
car with styling inspired by the Porsche 550.
But
this is no cheap fiberglass bodied replica. The Vintech P550 Tribute is a
carbon fiber bodied, custom built machine with a tubular spaceframe and an in-house
fabricated 3.0 litre boxer four-cylinder engine producing around 265
horsepower. The transmission is a five speed manual.
The
Vintech P550 Tribute doesn’t try and hide the fact its not an original. And it
does this by showing off its bare carbon fiber in a number of places, including
the instrument surround. In addition many of the styling details are neater and
cleaner than they are on the original Porsche.
And
weighing in at just 1,212 pounds (550 kgs), the Vintech P550 Tribute should go
as good as it looks.
