Datsun
XLink
The
Datsun XLink concept was the final thesis project of Benjamin Nawka, a German
designer and graduate of Pforzheim University. The
XLink was developed at the Yulon Nissan Design Center in Taiwan.
The
Datsun XLink is inspired by the popular and stylish Datsun 240Z from the
1970's. However unlike the two-door, two-seat 240Z the XLink is a four-door,
four-seat coupe. But the basic idea of an affordable, fun, desirable vehicle
remains.
The
styling of the Datsun XLink concept is inspired by aircraft and architecture.
These influences have resulted in chiseled lines, and small winglets over the
front wheel arches and above the rear window. The invisible door handles and
arching side windows cleverly mask the fact the XLink has four doors.
One
of the Datsun XLink's most interesting features is the conceptual navigation
and communication system. Called the XLink Experience, the system allows
connected users to interact with one another, and it also offers up interesting
destinations on demand to keep the occupants amused.
A
ride-height adjustable chassis would allow the Datsun XLink concept to traverse
relatively bad roads when necessary. Power for the concept comes from a
two-mode diesel hybrid drivetrain.
