Kahn
Speed 7 track day concept
British
coachbuilder Kahn is aiming for track day customers with its new Speed 7, a
vision of a classic-themed two-seater built with traditional aluminium
bodywork.
It’s
not yet known clear what will power the new circuit racer but Yorkshire-based
company owner Afzal Kahn has said it will be offered with an advanced hybrid
powertrain and possibly be based on a Caterham 7 chassis. If made, Kahn has
also suggested that the Speed 7 will cost around US$ 150,000.
Speaking
on the release of the two renderings, Kahn said: “Speed 7 is something that
I’ve had in my head for a couple of years now, but I think the time is right
now to bring it to fruition. We know how to finish and trim a car so it’s like
a jewel, but we want other specialised British engineering firms who have
experience of a ground-up build and homologation process to get involved with
us.”
Kahn
says a concept could be revealed at next year’s Geneva motor show and that he’s
already confident there’s a market for it boasting that he could sell “100 of
them tomorrow”.
Kahn
also added that early on the Speed 7 could be offered with a small petrol while
the hybrid-version is being developed.
