KTM 1050 Adventure

The perfect springboard into KTM’s world of travel enduro. Light, compact, fuel efficient and with unlimited potential for discovery, it was never easier to just drop everything and head off on your next adventure.

KTM developed the new 1050 ADVENTURE for all those who are looking for a high quality and dynamic travel enduro, but still consider easy access and reasonable costs as important attributes. That said the new entry-level model of the KTM travel range is still highly equipped and technically impressive. With its well-balanced total package, impressive ride dynamics and exemplary safety, the youngest member of the ADVENTURE range perfectly reflects the traditional brand values of KTM.

With a dry weight of only 212kg and 95hp of maximum output, the newcomer’s extremely favourable power-to-weight ratio feels even lighter thanks to the easy handling provided by lighter and narrower tires on robust cast alloy wheels. Furthermore, thanks to a low seat height of only 850mm, it is easily handled, even by shorter riders. The single-piece seat’s state-of-the-art 3D foam padding provides long distance comfort.

The triangular area defined by the rider’s seat, the tapered alloy handlebars and the footpegs can be easily adjusted to fit the anatomy and personal preferences of the rider. The handlebar is wider than that of the 1190 ADVENTURE and offers 20 mm of adjustment, the footpegs have 10 mm of diagonal adjustment, and the windshield has a 25 mm range of simple height adjustability. Top-level WP suspension has well balanced standard settings for every-day use. Spring pre-load as well as rebound can be fine-tuned to the intended use.

A wider range of riders now have access to the world of adventure thanks to an A2 license compatible optional engine power-reduction setting, which restricts the power output to within the prescribed European legal limit of 35kW/48hp.

The power to go as far as your curiosity leads you. Looking at the refinement and grunt of this 1,050 cc 75° V-twin, the KTM engineers have excelled, preserving and even enhancing the typical character of the power-house motor. On the one hand, the engine benefits from increased flywheel mass, which means it runs exceedingly smoothly. On the other, the V-twin engine churns out 95 HP (70 kW) and 90 Nm of torque from as low as 2500 rpm for a maximum of 107 Nm. That’s plenty of four-stroke might to carry you as far on your road to adventure as you need.

The dual ignition system of the KTM 1050 ADVENTURE controls the two differently sized spark plugs in each cylinder-head independently of each other in such a way that more efficient combustion and a smoother, optimally controlled combustion sequence is achieved at all times. Ride-by-wire throttle technology adds an extra level of throttle control precision. The electronics ensure that hesitation, shuddering and unintentional wheelies are a thing of the past.

The ride mode technology and disengageable traction control (TC) of the KTM 1050 ADVENTURE ensure dynamic yet fully controllable propulsion on any surface by modulating the engine’s power delivery, taking into account the mode pre-selected via the on-board computer (Street, Sport or Rain) and the amount of wheel slippage detected by the traction control. The TC reacts immediately by reducing the engine output whenever there is a rear wheel speed increase disproportional to the riding situation. All of this occurs within milliseconds and with an exceedingly smooth modulation that is hardly noticeable. As an option, the traction control function can be expanded with an additional offroad model.

Hit the road knowing you’re prepared for whatever lies ahead. The KTM 1050 ADVENTURE is factory equipped with the latest, disengageable dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) by Bosch. Those who ride offroad or beyond paved roads more than occasionally have the chance to order their ABS with an optional offroad mode. Activated, the system allows more slippage on the front wheel and the brake pressure regulation on the rear brake is turned off. This way, the rider has autonomous rear wheel control, for example to specifically force it to lock up.

Moreover the new KTM 1050 ADVENTURE features LEDs for the auto-reset indicators and for the daytime riding light (DRL). Twelve LEDs around the headlight automatically ensure the bike is nearly impossible to overlook in traffic. In low light conditions, such as at dawn, dusk or in tunnels, sensors control an automatic switch from the DRL to the headlight’s low beam.

Four valve technology, electronic engine management and dual ignition combine to deliver more precise and efficient combustion, which adds up to outstanding fuel efficiency, further extending the range of the 23 litre fuel tank.

The KTM 1050 ADVENTURE rolls on light-weight cast alloy wheels (110mm or 3.0 inches wide up front and 150mm or 4.5 inches in the rear). Despite their graceful looks, these wheels are exceedingly robust, minimising the unsprung masses and the moment of intertia with their low weight, for a positive effect on handling and ride dynamics. Another advantage is the result of the engine power being limited to 95Hp as there are numerous tire homologations with the corresponding speed index available.
