Motoczysz
C1
The
Motoczysz C1 is a uniquely remarkable machine which uses new and innovative
solutions to solve engineering problems. Perhaps the only other motorcycle
which can match the Motoczysz C1 for ingenuity from a small manufacturer is the
Britten V1000 from 1987 - 1995.
Designed
by American architect Micheal Czysz, the Motoczysz C1 is a race-orientated
superbike which features numerous interesting features.
The
engine is a 998 cc, 4-cylinder, four-stroke unit with a unique 'Z' configuration
cylinder layout. This means the cylinders can be located closer together than
in a conventional inline 4-cylinder engine. The engine also features
counter-rotating crankshafts which are designed to eliminate the torque effect
which would otherwise upset the balance of the bike due to the fact the engine
is mounted longitudinally in the frame. The engine of the Motoczysz C1 is also
fitted with an unusual arrangement of 3 camshafts, one for the intake valves,
and two for the exhaust valves.
The
frame of the Motoczysz C1 is a lightweight carbon fibre unit which due to its
advanced design in places like the tail unit and rear wheel hugger blurs the
line between frame and bodywork.
The
front faring of the Motoczysz C1 has been designed to channel air through the
bike and into the airbox and tail mounted radiator. The styling of the bodywork
is simple, uncluttered and downright beautiful.
The
suspension system of the Motoczysz C1 is as original as the rest of the bike.
Up front is Motoczysz's "6X-Flex" system. This technology utilizes
hydraulic forks with octagonal sliders and an ohlins monoshock mounted in the
headstock. At the rear is a fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock.
Everything
about the Motoczysz C1 has been designed to be fully and easily adjustable,
further underlining its race-orientated intentions. For example the entire
gearbox can be removed, the gearing ratios changed, and then refitted in a mere
10 minutes.
All
this technology and style doesn't come cheap though. US$ 100,000 is needed to
put a Motoczysz C1 in your garage.
