Opel
Vivaro Surf Concept
The Opel Vivaro is going lifestyle. One year after
the launch of the new generation midsize light commercial vehicle, which has
been ordered roughly 90,000 times to date, Opel will showcase the Vivaro Surf
Concept. The elegant passenger version is ideal for sporting activities. Five
to six passengers (depending of the seating configuration) along with the
entire sports and fitness equipment are no problem for the Opel Vivaro Surf
Concept. The roomy CrewCab van shows how outstanding load capacities can be
combined with a high level of comfort and stylish design. It also has one
especially practical detail: It offers a separate cargo area of 3.2 cubic
meters - or 4.0 cubic meters for the long wheelbase version. Thus, the Opel
Vivaro Surf Concept is ideal for transporting wet or dirty utensils after a
trip to the beach or to the mountains without the passengers even noticing. The
first ever edition of this trendy sports and fun vehicle will celebrate its debut
at the 2015 International Motor Show in Frankfurt.
The close-to-production Vivaro Surf Concept is a
real eye-catcher with its shiny copper-brown and white paint and foliation.
Customized Irmscher alloys emphasize the sporty and elegant look. However, the
lifestyle van shows its true values once the doors and tailgate are opened -
either manually or via Keyless Open. The Vivaro Surf Concept can shoulder a big
load. Extensive skiing or snowboard equipment, surfboards or bikes - the cargo
area of the five-meter transporter with a total permissible weight of up to 2.9
tons can meet all expectations.
In addition, it does it with a practical elegance:
the floor of the cargo area is fitted with a newly developed rail system; the
entire width under the second row of seats is used for a storage box that can
hold small utensils. The interior, fitted by the specialists from Snoeks
Automotive, has a pleasant atmosphere created by blue lighting in the sidewalls
and the roof liner. Those who cannot decide between a trip to the seaside and a
cycling tour can just do both: the Vivaro Surf Concept has a special surfboard
bracket on the roof so that stylish longboard fans do not have to go on
vacation without their beloved board.
Stylish and above all helpful equipment features
can found in the passenger cabin: the Irmscher Tourer Pack, already available
for the standard Vivaro, with fine black leather and contrasting silver
stitching on the side trim panels, the dashboard and the gear shifter gives the
Vivaro Surf Concept a sophisticated passenger car flair. Premium-quality velour
mats have been used for the floor, making the interior of the Vivaro cozier and
quieter as the velour linings reduce driving noise considerably. The new
automatic climate control ensures ideal temperatures inside the vehicle. The
lifestyle van even comes with an optional parking heater. In addition, the
passengers in the second row gain access comfortably via sliding doors on
either side.
Furthermore, Vivaro Surf Concept drivers can look
forward to a host of safety, assistance and infotainment options. The light and
rain sensors along with the fog lights ensure excellent visibility. Energy
saving LEDs are used for the daytime running lights. The electric exterior
mirrors along with the driver and front passenger seats are heated. Park Assist
with rear view camera prevents unwanted scratches when maneuvering and the
speed limiter ensures that the driver never exceeds the speed he sets.
The latest version of Navi 50 IntelliLink gives the
driver access to traffic information so that he can avoid any tailbacks en
route. The infotainment system comes with TMC (Traffic Message Channel),
hands-free module, audio streaming via Bluetooth and European maps. Operation
is possible via the seven-inch touchscreen or via Siri Eyes Free voice control.
Web radio stations along with audio books, Facebook, Twitter and many more can
be accessed via the aha® app. The Vivaro Surf Concept also comes with a Wi-Fi
Hotspot to ensure stable and fast connectivity.
Ultramodern technology including a 103 kW/140 hp
BiTurbo CDTI can be found under the hood. It mobilizes 340 Nm of torque and
propels the Vivaro Surf Concept to a top speed of 180 km/h. The ecoFLEX version
with Start/Stop only requires 6.1 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers, which is
equivalent to 160 grams of CO2 per kilometer (preliminary values). The Opel
Vivaro Surf Concept is therefore not only an extravagant but also an extremely
economical fun mobile. The idea of providing additional comfort also features
in the suspensions system. The air suspension of the rear axle compensates all
sorts of bumps in the road giving passengers a comfortable ride; furthermore,
in combination with the shortened springs, it reduces the vehicle's height by
roughly seven centimeters to 1.90 meters, thus ensuring that the Vivaro Surf
Concept can access most multi-storey car parks.
The spacious and comfortable Opel Vivaro Surf
Concept will be on show at the 2015 International Motor Show in Frankfurt and
could soon go into production as a "Limited Edition".
