Chevrolet Malibu
GM
has announced the prices of the ninth generation 2016 Chevrolet
Malibu for
Canada. At CA$ 21,745, the 2016 base model’s price is CA$ 3,495 lower than the
outgoing model. The 2016 Malibu will be offered in five trim levels – L, LS,
LT, Hybrid and Premier. Pricing for the Malibu Hybrid will be announced closer
to its production commencement in Spring 2016.
Built
completely from the ground up, the 2016 Malibu is larger but lighter. Thanks to
the 91 mm (3.6 inches) longer wheelbase, the rear legroom has been improved by
33 m (1.3 inches). The all-new model sees weight reduction of as much as 300
lbs (136 kg). GM says that the new generation Malibu is the “most
fuel-efficient, connected and technologically advanced” Malibu-ever.
Ecotec
1.5L DOHC I-4 VVT DI Turbo – The 1.5-liter Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder
gasoline engine produces 160 horsepower (119 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque (250
Nm), and comes linked to Hydra-Matic 6T45 6-speed automatic transmission.

2.0L DOHC I-4 VVT DI Turbo – The 2.0-liter Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder
gasoline engine produces 250 horsepower (186 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque (350
Nm), and comes linked to AWF8F45 8-speed automatic transmission.
The
2016 Malibu Hybrid gets its power from Ecotec 1.8L Hybrid naturally aspirated
engine that produces 122 hp (91 kW) and 129 lb-ft. (175 Nm) of torque, and is
assisted by two electric motors which produce 55 kW (74 hp) and 76 kW (102 hp)
individually. The all-new hybrid powertrain produces 136 kW (182 hp) and 277
lb-ft. (375 Nm) of torque. It offers GM-estimated fuel economy of 20.41 km/l
city, 19.23 km/l highway and 20 km combined.
