SsangYong Korando
The
2016 SsangYong Korando has been officially revealed with a new engine and more
features for the UK. The new model is offered in three trims – SE, EX and ELX,
and priced from £ 15,995.
The
new Korando has been designed by Giugiaro and gets clear glass direction
indicators, piano black radiator grille with chrome detailing on the ELX trim
level, and new design 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels which change to 18-inch
diamond cut alloys on the ELX trim level.
The
biggest development for MY2016 however, is the introduction of a
bigger, Euro 6-compliant 2.2-liter e-XDi220 four-cylinder turbo-diesel
engine which is claimed to be more powerful and environment friendly than the
previous unit. This engine produces 178 PS (176 hp) and 400 Nm of torque,
which is said to be an improvement of 19.4% and 11% respectively over the
outgoing 2.0-litre engine. The new engine also has a reduced carbon footprint
which has been brought down to 139 g/km from the earlier 147 g/km. Combined fuel
economy has also been increased from 16.67 km/l to 18.87 km/l.
The
new 2.2-liter engine is Euro 6-compliant and more powerful and fuel efficient
as well. The
engine is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox for both two- and four-wheel
drive, while the Aisin 6-speed automatic gearbox is only offered with the
all-wheel drive model.
The
2016 Korando gets lots of features to increase its appeal. The base SE trim
level gets RDS audio system with Bluetooth and iPod/iPhone connectivity. The
mid-level EX trim level features a 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen that
supports audio streaming from smart devices and also gets feed from the
reversing camera. The cream-of-the-crop ELX trim level gains TomTom
navigation system along with a USB memory slot, Aux port and HDMI port.
