2016 Bimota Impeto

Italian boutique motorcycle manufacturer Bimota, launched their new Impeto at this year’s EICMA motor show. This new motorcycle extends the Rimini-based motorcycle manufacturer’s naked sportbike lineup for 2016, and would soon bring a very unique feature to the range.

As all recent-year Bimotas go, the Impeto also uses a Ducati engine, specifically a previous-generation 1198 cc Testastretta unit that puts out a claimed 162 bhp of power at the crank. With a dry weight of 176 kg, the accelerations can be expected to be quite dramatic off the line. But just in-case that isn’t enough, Bimota would soon offer the same engine with a Kawasaki Ninja H2-style supercharger as an optional kit.

The supercharger in question is manufactured by Sprintex and is compact enough to in between the gap of the 90-degree V-engines. The fuel injection and manifold has been developed by Bimota in-house. The supercharger on the Impeto according to the company, will have no problems running without an intercooler, thus keeping the plumbing and weight to a minimum. With the supercharger installed the Bimota Impeto will be able to produce peak power in surplus of 180 bhp, while more importantly, the torque will go up to a very brutal 190 Nm.

In addition to the supercharger, Bimota is also working on a lightweight frame and swingarm that would further help reducing the weight and making the motorcycle quicker. Prices and availability of the Bimota Impeto is yet to be announced.
