2016
Hyundai Genesis
Hyundai
has announced the 2016 Hyundai Genesis sedan for the U.S. market. The updated
model will reach the showrooms in November. The base trim level now costs
US$ 38,750 (ex. US$ 950 destination charge). This cost makes the basetrim level
costlier by US$ 750 from previous model year.
There
are no noticeable visual changes. The only visual revisions that the new model
has received on the outside is the addition of High Intensity Discharge (HID)
headlights and LED DRLs as standard fitment. The other change is limited to the
3.8 model – optionally available LED fog lights.
The
2016 Hyundai Genesis range consists of three trim levels. The base one is the
3.8 RWD, the mid-level is the 3.8 AWD and the top-end is the 5.0 RWD. The
flagship 5.0 model will now come fully equipped with the Ultimate trim package
as standard. This has resulted in the cost going up by US$ 2,350 over the 2015
model. The features that are available due to this price increase are head up
display, continuous damping control suspension, Lexicon Discrete Logic 7
surround audio system with 17 speakers, DIS navigation system with 9.2-inch HD
display, dual-mode HVAC with CO2 sensor and power trunk lid.
Two
engine options are available and both are gasoline ones. The first is a
3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine that produces 311 hp and 293 lb-ft (397 Nm) of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The
second is a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that produces 420 hp and
383 lb-ft (518 Nm) of torque, also coupled to an 8-speed automatic
transmission.
