BLUE-WILL
Beauty is in the eye of
the beholder and for Hyundai engineers, they can see beauty even in the agape
mouths of filter-feeding baleen whales. Their latest concept, the BLUE-WILL, is
a plug-in hybrid with a standard 1.6 liter gasoline engine coupled with a 100
kilowatt electric motor.
The environment has
been the central focus of car manufacturers and Hyundai makes sure that the
majority of the materials used for the BLUE-WILL are not only recyclable but
eco-friendly as well. The headlamp bezels are made from recycled plastic
bottles while the bonnet and some of the panels are made of plant-based
plastics that are biodegradable.
The electric motor is
powered by lithium-ion polymer batteries that could also be charged via the
translucent solar panels on the roof. Great concept but should you drive these
in the future, watch for the harpoons!
