Bentley Flying Spur V8 S
The Bentley's new Flying Spur V8 S is all set to take its place between the
entry level V8 and the W12 flagship.
The "S" gets a black matrix
grille, the Beluga gloss rear diffuser, 20" open-spoke painted wheels,
plus goodies such as Piano-black wood veneers, two-tone seats and a contrasting
roof center bow inside to distinguish itself from the rest of the range.
Customers looking for an even more
aggressive appearance can get the car with an array of dark-colored styling
elements such as tinted lights, gloss black exterior mirror covers and a unique
Mulliner Driving Specification 21" black & bright machined six-spoke
wheel.
The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 was tuned to
put down an additional 21 PS, bringing the total to 528 PS to
go with its 680 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the
"non-S" V8 is good for 507 PS.
The added muscle helps the Flying Spur
V8 S reach a top speed of 306 km/h, whereas the 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in just 4.9 seconds. Despite the increase in performance,
the V8 S will still be able to cover more than 837 km between
fill-ups, and use up only 10.9 L/100 km in a combined cycle. As for
CO2 emissions, we're looking at 254 g/km.
In order to make the Flying Spur V8 S'
power more accessible from lower down the rev range, Bentley made revisions to
both the engine as well as the transmission. The car will feel even sportier
when placed into 'S' mode, with even sharper throttle response and additional
engine braking from the transmission. The power reaches the road via an
all-wheel drive system with a rear-biased torque split (40:60), and the
suspension has received a new setup for more responsive handing.
The entire Flying Spur range has also
been upgraded for 2016 with the addition of a few extra optional features. Now
available on both the W12 as well as the new V8 S is a semi-aniline hide
option, giving the cabin a more comfortable, luxurious and natural feel
according to the British luxury car manufacturer. Furthermore, the leather
seats feature new straight-fluting for visual impact, while the Mulliner
Driving Specification now has a small diamond quilting pattern which is
supposed to resemble tailored British jacket.
The Flying Spur now comes complete with
a Touch Screen Remote with the help of which owners will be able to control the
car's climate and infotainment systems without having to move from the rear
seat. Also available is an optional Multimedia Specification which brings an
extensive Rear Seat Entertainment system.
Of course, while riding inside the
Flying Spur, you will be treated to WiFi connectivity - in case you need to get
some work done or relax while browsing the web.
Bentley's new Flying Spur V8 S will be
making its global debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March, with first
customer deliveries set to begin in the summer.
