Peugeot 2008 Facelift

Peugeot has decided now is the time to update the 2008 SUV, ahead of next month's 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Styling changes are minimal but do include tweaked headlights as well as a new blacked-out grille at the front end. Additionally, scuff plates have been fitted to protect the French bodywork while the roof, roof rails, rear spoiler and rear door have also been updated and revitalised for the 2017 model year.

Of more importance for the updated 2008 are its extensive range of engine options, that consists of five different petrol units and six diesel powertrains. All the petrol models displace 1.2-liters and are three-cylinder units, offering different levels of power and varying degrees of fuel efficiency.

The most efficient of the bunch is the PureTech 82 engine which when mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox, sips just 4.4 L/100 km. The PureTech 110 engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox also returns the same fuel consumption. Power varies between 110 hp and 130 hp for the petrol engines.

As for the diesel engines, they are all 1.6-liter units which typically, come standard with a 5-speed manual. With that being said, a 6-speed auto is available on the BlueHDi 100 S&S model which consumes a mere 3.6 L/100 km of diesel. A 6-speed manual is offered in the range-topping BlueHDi 120 S&S variant.

For 2017, Peugeot has also added the GT Line trim to the 2008 range that includes a set of exclusive 17-inch gloss black wheels and a black front grille surround, fog light covers, roof bars and wing mirror casings. Additionally, GT Line badging sits on both front fenders.

Stepping inside and one is greeted with the company's latest i-Cockpit system, that through a special 'Grip Control' dial in the center console, allows the driver to choose between Standard, Snow, All-Terrain, Sand, and ESP Off driving modes.

Also found within the facelifted 2008 range is an infotainment system supporting both MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay. Active City Brake has also been installed which as the name suggests, is able to automatically brake the car in slow moving traffic if it anticipates a collision.
