2016 Honda Concept D
The Honda Concept D is scheduled to put
its production clothes on for the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. Based on the study
revealed last year, it will be available exclusively in the Chinese car market,
where it is expected to arrive in late 2016.
CarNewsChina reports that the new Honda
SUV will go up against vehicles such as the Ford Edge, the Toyota Highlander
and the upcoming Volkswagen CrossBlue and it will be powered by two petrol
engines, a 2.0-liter turbo and a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter. There will be
rear-and four-wheel drive versions, all available with a six-speed automatic
transmission.
In terms of design, the production
Concept D will remain similar to the study, but rumor has it that the grille,
lighting units and bumpers will be slightly redesigned. No images of the cabin
have been released by Honda, so we cannot put our finger on its look and
features.
Prices for the new Honda SUV should
start at around 250,000 yuan (US$ 38,000), but for the range-topper, prospective
buyers will have to pay approximately 425,000 yuan (US$ 65,000).
Honda officials didn’t comment on a
possible production version of the Concept D for Europe or North America.
