All-New Aston Martin DB11
After numerous leaks and spy photos, the new Aston Martin DB11 was officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. The DB11 is Aston’s first product launched under the ‘Second Century’ plan, representing a new era for the British brand.
Powered by a new, in-house developed 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, the new DB11 offers 600 hp and 700 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful production DB model in the history of Aston Martin. 0-100 km/h comes in 3.9 seconds, with the top speed set at 320 km/h.
The new engine is paired to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, with the driver able to choose between multiple driving modes -GT, Sport and Sport Plus- which alter the response of the engine, the gearbox, the electric power steering, the torque vectoring and the adaptive dampers, giving the new DB11 an “extraordinary breadth of dynamic capability”.
Built upon a new lighter, stronger, and more space efficient bonded aluminum structure, the DB11 marries Aston Martin’s new design direction with innovative aerodynamics, re-imaging the relationship between form and function.
New design signatures like the uninterrupted roof strakes from A- to the C-pillar, the side gills or the sculpted rear end with its Virtual Spoiler are combined with clever management of airflow both over and under the bodywork, reducing lift and driving air away from the car.
Thanks to the technical partnership with Daimler, the new DB11 now offers the latest technology in the cabin. Using a 12-inch color TFT display for the instrument cluster, the DB11 can present all the primary vehicle information with clarity, with a second eight-inch display centrally-mounted for the infotainment system. The latter can be optionally controlled by a touchpad offering character recognition, multi-touch and gesture support.
Pricing for the new Aston Martin DB11 starts from £ 154,900 in the UK, US$ 211,995 in the US and 204,900 euros in Germany. The first cars are expected to be delivered towards the end of 2016.
