Geely
GC9
Called
the Geely GC9, Geely's new entry-level luxury sedan draws on the KC Concept it
unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, 2013. The design was penned by
Peter Horbury, the former Volvo designer who was named chief designer at Geely
in 2012.
The Emgrand marque is now defunct although the Emgrand GC9 becomes
Geely GC9.
The
Geely GC9 becomes the first Chinese entry-level luxury sedan to appear in the
Asphalt series, not just Asphalt 8: Airborne.
It
is said to be a sibling of Volvo S60. With a 2850 mm wheelbase, it extends
4960 mm in body length. The main engine option will be a turbo 1.8 liter, mated
to a 6AT. Release is scheduled in the first half of 2015.
Due
to its engine displacement, its size and power, its competitors are the Cadillac
ATS, Jaguar XE Portfolio, Mercedes-Benz C250 and the Volvo S60 T5. The Geely
GC9 is the only Chinese entry-level luxury sedan in the competition.
