New Holden Spark
Holden has released preliminary details
on the new Spark for the Australian market, where it will launch in April. Presented
in 2015 simultaneously, at the New York and Seoul shows, the new generation of
the Spark will be a key player for the automaker in the micro-car segment.
Compared to its predecessor, the new
Holden Spark has a lower profile, thinner pillars, reduced height and a
slightly longer wheelbase. These add to the upgraded materials used inside and
new technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Holden engineers have been involved in
the development of the small car's suspension system and they also contributed
to ride and handling tuning, during test trips to South Korea and extensive
development in Oz.
Power to the new Holden Spark comes from
a new 1.4-liter engine, producing 98 hp and 128 Nm of torque.
Standard features highlighted by Holden include six airbags, ESC, EBD, ABS,
hill start assist, traction control and rearview camera (LT).
Further details on the city cruiser,
including its full price list, have yet to be announced.
