2017 Lincoln Continental
Lincoln is said to have started
accepting orders today for the new 2017 Continental sedan, with one of its
dealers allegedly confirming a starting price of US$ 46,000.
The unidentified dealer told
Theignitionblog that the base model comes with the 300 hp 3.7-liter V6 from the
MKZ paired to an automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
At the other end of the spectrum, a
“decently optioned” version of the 400 hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 flagship
Continental with all-wheel drive was said to cost “around US$ 65,000” topping at
“US$ 72,000 with every option checked”. It’s unclear what the starting price of
the 400 hp AWD model will be, but given the previous information, it should be
in the mid-to-high US$ 50s.
It’s possible that, as with the 2017
MKZ, Lincoln may also offer a de-tuned, 350 hp version of the 3.0-liter
twin-turbo V6 with front-wheel drive, to close the power- and price-gap between
the 300 hp FWD and 400 hp AWD models.
If confirmed from official lips, the entry
price of the 2017 Continental would make it Lincoln’s second most expensive
offering after the US$ 63,195 Navigator SUV.
In base form with the 300hp V6, the
Continental would be priced similar to Cadillac’s 268 hp 2.0L 4-cylinder CTS
(US$ 45,560) and 304 hp 3.6L V6 XTS (US$ 45,295), and Lexus’ 241 hp 2.0L four-pot GS
200t (US$ 45,615), while undercutting other (smaller) premium offerings like BMW’s
240 hp 2.0L 528i (US$ 50,200) and Jaguar’s 340 hp V6 XF (US$ 51,900).
Last month, Lincolns execs revealed that
some 40,000 people have expressed interest in the Continental.
